On 9th March 2022 the president of the International Foundation of Sport, Tourism and Youth, Mr. Tariel Khechikashvili met with Mr. Irakli Kasrashvili, Head of the Mercy Corps Mission in Georgia, as well as Mr. Ucha Varamashvili, the project Director of Supporting Rural Development through Youth Entrepreneurship in Georgia (RDYE).

In the framework of the meeting the parties shared the information about implemented, ongoing and future projects, as well as held a presentation of 3.5 year project (RDYE) which will be conducted by Mercy Corps in Georgia with financial support of Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC).

The main aim of the project is to extend the knowledge and capacity of the youth (between 18 and 35 years old) in the field of entrepreneurship, to support businesses in the agricultural and non-agricultural direction and to assist in accessibility of funds and in establishing basic contacts.

The project will support minimum amount of 1500 young people (50% women), including vulnerable minorities (ethnical or religious minorities, displaced people, people with disabilities or from the mountainous villages), to extend their entrepreneurship skills and ability.

The project will fund 50 sustainable, new and / or existing, youth-created agricultural and non-agricultural enterprises.

The project will be implemented in 18 municipalities from the following 4 regions:

– Kvemo Kartli region;

– Samtskhe-Javakheti region;

– Shida Kartli region;

– Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.

In the framework of the meeting the parties discussed in details the activities to be implemented under the project and agreed on a framework for future cooperation.
