16th of September, 2021 the delegation of International Foundation of Sport, Tourism and Youth paid a business visit to Madrid (Spain). In the framework of the visit, the Foundation signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations World Tourist Organization (UNWTO).

The cooperation between the parties includes:

Enhancing cooperation to contribute to sustainable development and achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the scope of sport and sport tourism;

Enhancing sport tourism by means of promoting engagement in physical activities and opportunities for interactions;

Supporting and promotion of sport, tourism, educational and youth programs and projects;

Supporting healthy life style among youth and encouraging involvement in educational and sport programs and projects;

Supporting international cooperation and collaboration in sport, tourism, education and youth, etc.

The signatories of the Memorandum were Mr. Tariel Khechikashvili, President of the International Foundation of Sport, Tourism and Youth and Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili, General Secretary of UNWTO.

As the leading international organization in the field of tourism, UNWTO promotes tourism as a driver of economic growth, inclusive development and environmental sustainability and offers leadership and support to the sector in advancing knowledge and tourism policies worldwide.

The newly established cooperation with UNWTO is a very crucial step for future development of the Foundation’s activities.

Main aim of the foundation is to support projects and programs in the fields of sport, tourism and youth in Georgia.

We are planning to announce number of grant proposals in the upcoming future.
